Inspector Rayn’s experiences

It is sometimes said that still waters run deep. That goes for our inspector Rayn. A calm young man, but if you ask him about his experiences at Mitari, he transforms into an open book. Rayn thinks along and likes to contribute solutions that others don't quickly think of. It all started in the warehouse, where he started as an assembly assistant. Enough challenge, but after a while, he still wanted more.

Inspector Rayn’s experiences

From security guard to inspector

Rayn, like many colleagues, comes from a completely different world. He was working as a security guard when the coronavirus hit the Netherlands. Especially in shops and nightlife. Due to the many lockdowns, there were few opportunities to make hours. Rayn is not someone who waits, but rather someone who takes action, so he soon started looking for another job. Via Indeed, he came across the vacancy for an assembly worker. “At first, I thought; just try, if I don't like it then at least I have a job in this uncertain time. Meanwhile, it has worked out so well here! There are many opportunities to grow, and I notice that if you prove yourself, you can take new steps. That has proven to be the case with me.” Rayn has experienced the step from a security guard to the technical world as a good one, although a lot of new things came to him in the beginning. He was able to gain a lot of knowledge about materials and the various products in the warehouse. While every order you prepare is different, it eventually became too routine for Rayn. The opportunity arose to grow into the position of Inspector of Hoisting and Lifting Equipment.

“At Mitari it doesn't matter who you are or what your position is, we work as one team.”

A day of an inspector

As an inspector of hoisting and lifting equipment, no day is the same. Rayn starts up his laptop in the workshop in the morning, after which a short consultation takes place about what to do that day. The inspection of hoisting and lifting equipment and the production of wire ropes are the most frequent activities. What the day will look like depends on the work that has been received and the delivery date. “With inspection activities, you come across a lot of lifting equipment, but we also inspect various tools. With the tools, you always must be alert to the way in which you are going to approach them, each tool is different. Of course, you want the tools you approve to be safe. Fortunately, there are always enough instructions if these are missing a colleague always helps me. Hoisting equipment that we disapprove will be repaired, if possible. If the hoisting equipment can no longer be repaired and therefore cannot be used safely, we will offer a replacement item. Our advisors are in contact with the customer about this. I enjoy working in the workshop, but occasionally I also go along to inspect on location. You will then visit many special places. Recently I was in a cleanroom inspecting lifting equipment. That was very educational and interesting.

Continue to grow

In September 2022, Rayn made the transition from the warehouse to the workshop to work as an inspector. Everyone is super happy with him and that gives Rayn a sense of satisfaction. “When I look at what I am doing now, I am proud of the fact that I have learned so much in a short time and that I can do a lot independently. In the future, I would like to support my colleague in helping and advising customers face-to-face. To be able to do this well, I first want to gain more experience. I can certainly see myself working at Mitari for a long time.”

Working atmosphere

According to Rayn, there must also be room for fun. Fortunately, you can also laugh a lot during working hours, as long as it does not have a negative impact on the work. “You notice that there is a positive atmosphere within Mitari. Everyone helps each other, and no one is less than someone else. One tea, one job, that's the spirit here! It doesn't really matter who you are or what your position is, we work as one team.”
